Monthly Archives: January 2013

Now that Christmas and new celebrations are over, the Friends of Queens Park are starting to plan for 2013.

The most immediate dates for you to note are the days when our team of volunteers will be carrying out basic gardening work in the park.  These happen every second Monday morning from 10am.  The next session will be on 21st January, followed by 4th and 18th February.  If you have an hour or two to spare please come and help.  No experience necessary.

This year’s annual Party in the Park will be on Sunday 14th July.  Please put this date in your diary.  If you have any suggestions, would like to be involved or can help with planning, we would love to hear from you.

No other dates for now, but keep an eye on the notice board.  We hope to submit a grant application soon to fund further improvements in the park.  Top of our list are a roundabout accessible by wheel chair users (and everyone else), repair and renovation of the entrance pillars and walls, and replacement of some or all of the old trim trail exercise equipment.  We will be consulting on the plans as they develop.

THERE are plans to start up a local branch of the most rapidly growing organisation for older people in the UK.

The University of the Third Age (U3A) now has almost 600 branches nationwide and now a Llandudno branch is being set up.

There are thriving U3A’s already in nearby Llanwrst, Penmaenmawr, Abergele and Bangor.

The launch meeting will be held at Craig Y Don community centre on January 22 at 2pm.

The organisers are aiming to attract people from the whole of the Llandudno area including Conwy, Rhos on Sea, Penrhyn Bay, Llandudno Junction, Deganwy and Mochdre.
